Courses are taught from our state-of-the-art Munster campus Opens in a new window at the Australian Centre for Energy and Process Training Opens in a new window (ACEPT). This is a purpose-built facility that features a real-life operating plant to ensure students gain hands-on experience by learning in an industry-standard setting with advanced technologies and equipment.

Our Certificate IV in Electrical (Instrumentation) provides eligible persons with the training, skills and knowledge to install, commission, calibrate and maintain modern instrumentation and control systems. This may include loop tuning of multi controller or multi element systems and PLC training where required.

Certificate III in Engineering - Industrial Electrician

South Metropolitan TAFE has developed this course in collaboration with the oil, gas and resources industry to meet demand for skilled workers in industrial electrotechnology. Our training and assessment strategies ensure the industry has the best talent available. We are also the only provider that runs this course in Australia.

Students will be taught the analytical, technical and practical skills required to become a competent electrical technician ready for the complex processes and systems encountered in industrial environments. They will learn how to select, set-up, install, test, commission, fault-find, repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment in oil/gas installations, process plants and mine sites. On completion, graduates will be eligible to apply for an unrestricted electrical licence from Energy Safety/Department of Commerce, enabling them to work as an electrician.

Our PMA40116 Certificate IV in Process Plant Operations is a technical qualification for advanced operators and operations technicians who use production equipment to directly produce product. Technicians undertaking the course will typically be involved in solving complex problems requiring theoretical knowledge, combined with an understanding of the production process and equipment across the plant. It is especially suited to advanced operators and/or operations technicians who are wanting to further their career in a supervisory or team leader role. This qualification is customisable based on your company requirements.

  • Company based Traineeship consisting of units of competency chosen by your employer. This program will include a total of eight (8) weeks spent on campus (ACEPT Munster), split into two week block releases, twice a year, over two years. This two day intensive face to face safety supervisors training is designed for current and step-up supervisors in the mining and construction industry who have been nominated to become an appointed person/supervisor by their employer. The completion of this safety leadership course may contribute towards becoming an appointed person under Section 44. Your employer will advise on specific site or company requirements.
