Jandakot
Our Jandakot campus houses the AeroSpace Training Centre which is comprised of two distinct facilities, the hangar on Compass Road and the annex on Eagle Drive.
The main campus building includes a 1,500 square metre hangar facility that houses a variety of aircraft including SM TAFE's very own Boeing 737. Our Boeing 737 is maintained in a fully serviceable condition and used as a non-flying static training facility for students across an array of training courses, from pilot studies, to cabin crew, to aircraft maintenance, and even safety and ground handling.
Other facilities and training devices available for students include additional fixed wing and rotorcraft static trainers, a learning resource centre with computer and wireless internet resources, computer-based training modules and a flight simulator.

Parking
Jandakot campus has parking available at both locations in the Jandakot airport area. From the Karel Ave roundabout, turn left onto Compass Road to access our Hangar facility or take the right exit onto Eagle Drive to arrive at our Annexe facility. Student parking is available across the road from the AeroSpace Training Centre's Hangar or directly outside the annex location. Â
Public transport
Jandakot campus is accessible via a five-minute walk from the bus stop on Karel Avenue. Visit Transperth's Journey Planner, using Karel Avenue as a landmark to plan your trip or collect a timetable from the Customer Service Centre on campus.

There is no cafeteria on campus however a cafe is adjacent to the annex building and other food options are available from nearby cafes and shops. Â
Vending machines are available for drinks and snacks and a small kitchen is available to help students prepare food.
Students enjoy free WiFi at all SM TAFE campuses.Â

When you complete the Certificate II in Aeroskills you open the door to a career in aviation maintenance, working on the advanced technology that flies 8 million people across the world every day, and is a great pathway into an apprenticeship and a Certificate IV in Aeroskills.
The Certificate II in Aeroskills course is designed to deliver both theoretical and practical knowledge enabling you to gain a solid foundation of both the knowledge and skills required to enter into an aviation maintenance career.
In the workshop, you will learn both manufacturing hand skills and the basic skills relating to the inspection and maintenance of various aircraft components.

Learn to maintain and repair a range of specialist avionics equipment with this course focusing on aircraft electronic and electrical components and systems such as on-board computers, radio, radar, and GPS systems.
Our course enables you to seek the grant of a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) B2 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence covering the supervision, performance and certification of avionic maintenance on aircraft that are type-rated by CASA for maintenance purposes.

This nationally recognised qualification is CASA approved and will teach you how to supervise civil aircraft maintenance activities.
The qualification applies to individuals seeking a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) B1 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence, covering the supervision, performance and certification of airframe, engine, electrical and structural maintenance on aircraft that are type-rated by CASA for maintenance purposes.
Part 66 Module exams are included with this qualification, which are an essential requirement of gaining the licence.

You will gain valuable industry workplace exposure to airport and airline operations, as well as experience in an aviation environment within our fully equipped aircraft hangar facility.

This course is going to transition to a new training package in 2023. This means that students starting in 2023 will transfer during their study to new units developed to meet current and future industry needs.

Certificate III in Aviation (Cabin Crew)

When you complete the Certificate III in Aviation (Cabin Crew) you will be recruitment-ready for an exciting career as a flight attendant or cabin crew member.
You will gain confidence in dealing with difficult passengers on an aircraft with crew member security training.
This course is specifically designed for those seeking an exciting career as a cabin crew member (flight attendant). This course has been developed in conjunction with commercial airlines and experienced cabin crew training managers to meet current aviation standards and will thoroughly prepare you to be successful in the airline industry.
South Metropolitan TAFE has a Boeing 737 which will be used for the majority of your practical training. The fun begins with practical exercises such as evacuating down a slide, simulated cabin fires with a smoke machine, firefighting, ditching and life raft training. You will have hands on instruction in the full-length cabin with business and economy class seating, fully operational galleys, cabin service equipment and PA system.
Graduates of this course have successfully gained employment with both regional and international airlines as cabin crew members. Students should also be fit and healthy in order to successfully complete the airlines emergency procedure training.
