Do you have what it takes for a caring career?

This course will prepare you to become a health care worker that could apply for job roles of Health Services Assistant, Patient Care Assistant, Orderly and Cleaner. This is an active physical role that requires the student to gain a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge to provide assistance to professional healthcare staff for the care of clients.

  • There are two different delivery types for this course, please view the information in the Duration section to choose the correct course for you.
  • There is an online reading component to this course and as such, you should be computer literate and have available computer and internet access.
  • Includes practical placement at a health facility in 2nd term of program. An extra day per week (Tuesday) scheduled for placement in term 2.

You will be required to have the following checks prior to work placement.

  • National Police Clearance (Form available at the post office. Needs to be completed and submitted to post office asap)
  • Working With Children Check (Form will be given to you at orientation)
  • Medical screening and immunisations (Form will be given to you at orientation)
  • Uniform is a requirement for this course (This requirement will be discussed on the first day. Uniform is navy blue scrub top and pants, with closed in shoes.)

There are Two (2) delivery types for this course, both are one semester long.

Rockingham group

  • Delivered on campus two days per week
  • Includes practical placement at a health facility in 2nd term of program 

Murdoch group and Mandurah group

  • Delivered on campus 1 day per week
  • There is an online reading component to this course and as such, you should be computer literate and have available internet access.
  • Includes practical placement at a health facility in 2nd term of the program.
