Develop the practical skills and knowledge to care for and enhance the appearance of nails.
Learn the skills and knowledge to apply, maintain and remove acrylic nails, apply advanced nail art and the use of the electric drill. You will learn how to consult with clients, select suitable products and techniques and apply nail enhancements that include overlays, refills, tips and French.
On successful completion of this course students will have achieved national recognised units of competence which are part of the SHB40121 Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy qualification.

This short course is fast paced and requires good hand eye coordination along with a high level of communication and English skills to ensure successful completion. Students are required to have access to a computer. You will be required to provide models for this course which will be advised by your lecturer once classes start.
This course requires fine hand and eye coordination skills and attention to detail.
Attendance in class
This course is equivalent to 1 day per week when studied across 16 weeks.
At-home study
As well as the in-class component, you maybe required to complete additional study each week outside of class hours, including private study, assignment preparation, and research.
You will need to have the basic technical requirements for at-home study including a laptop or home computer with internet access. If you don’t have access to a computer and WiFi at home, we recommend using our library computers during library hours.
What you need for your first day of class
On your first day you should bring your SM TAFE confirmation enrolment receipt, your student ID, stationery (a pen and notepad and equipment from orientation booklet lists). Student will require to supply own equipment/tools below.
- 1 large towel
- 2 hand towels
Course induction material is provided on the first night. All course materials including a nail kit for home and class use is included in your course.
Models will be required for practical classes - this information will be provided in your first class.
Uniforms and workwear requirements
Students are required to wear black pants and black top with enclosed shoes. Hair must be tied back neatly and professional presentation is required.
Free parking. Security is present on the premises for evening classes.
