This course is comprehensive and encompasses the fundamental skills in basic cosmetic tattooing, as well as advanced techniques. You will learn techniques in eyeliner, brows and lip tattooing using a rotary tattoo machine, which is included in the price of your course. (Microblading is not included in this course). Health and hygiene regulations for this industry are included and you will be taught by an industry leading tattoo artist.

This short course is fast paced and requires good hand eye coordination along with a high level of communication and English skills to ensure successful completion. Students are required to have access to a computer. You will be required to provide models for this course which will be advised by your lecturer once classes start.
We highly recommend that students enrol into the Brow Stylist short course prior to enrolling into the Cosmetic Tattoo skill set, or have prior knowledge of colour wheel and colour techniques and brow mapping.
Attendance in class
This course is delivered one evening per week for 16 weeks, from 6pm to 9pm, or one day per week for 8 weeks, 9:00am – 3:30pm.
To enhance your success in this skill set, you will need to attend all schedule classes and bring a model when required. Model dates will be advised via email approximately one week prior to your start date. You will not require a model on week one.
A cosmetic tattoo kit for class and home use plus all other learning material is included in your course.
At-home study
As well as the in-class component, you maybe required to complete additional study each week outside of class hours, including private study, assignment preparation, and research.
You will need to have the basic technical requirements for at-home study. If you don’t have access to a computer and WiFi at home, we recommend using our library computers during library hours.
What you need for your first day of class
On your first day you should bring your SM TAFE confirmation enrolment receipt, your student ID, stationery (a pen and notepad and equipment from orientation booklet lists). Student will require to supply own equipment/tools below.
- 2 large towels
- 1 hand towel
- A camera or mobile phone to take before and after photos
Uniforms and workwear requirements
Students are required to wear black pants and black top with enclosed shoes. Hair must be tied back neatly and professional presentation is required.
