The Course in Early Career Discovery is an accredited course which consist of one six-hour unit:
- ECDUCD001 Undertake early career discovery
This course provides year 9 students with early exposure to career options and pathways. Completion of the course enables students to make informed and realistic decisions about future pathways by focusing on three key areas:
- self-awareness and discovery of career interests
- an exploration of pathways to contemporary and emerging skills and careers
- identification and use of career planning tools and activities
South Metropolitan TAFE is committed to helping year 9 students to help unlock and discover their future careers by providing an immersive experience. With a combination of activities, workbooks and our brand-new Virtual Reality headsets, students will get a deep dive into career exploration. There are two delivery models available to schools, at school or on campus.
At School Delivery

No worries, we have a delivery model created where we can cater to entire year 9 cohorts where we can come to your school and deliver the Accredited Course in Early Career Discovery to year 9 students. On Campus Delivery
Bring your students to one of our campuses for a day where they will get to explore and discover their potential future whilst making it enjoyable through class activities, Virtual Reality and workbooks. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR BOOKING ACCREDITED COURSE
Schools are responsible for completing and returning the spreadsheet for accredited course (111 KB) (Excel document) which includes supplying a valid student Unique Student Identifier (USI)(opens in a new tab) number.
The completed spreadsheet for accredited course is required to be returned to Career Taster Team one week prior to the course commencement.
