Ready to become the builder, fixer and maintainer of all the heavy mechanical machines? Start your journey into the world of engineering and manufacturing with this nationally recognised Apprenticeship which will equip you with the skills you need to be a Fixed Plant Mechanic.

If you're a problem solver and enjoy the satisfying process of dismantling and reassembling to fault find, repair and get operations back on track - this is the career path for you!

Your Apprenticeship will be completed under the supervision of a qualified tradesperson and you'll learn to diagnose faults in plant machinery and identify the repairs to be made, along with the solutions to rectify and prevent problems. You'll be equipped with key trade fundamentals  such as interpreting technical drawings, taking engineering measurements, performing computations and using hand and power tools.

Get trained in areas such as maintaining electronic controlling systems on stationary and mobile plant, facilitating maintenance on combustion engines, how to fix batteries, performing precision levelling and alignment of machines and much more.

The role of a Plant Mechanic is to minimise downtime by ensuring that equipment is operating at optimum levels; you'll repair and maintain heavy machinery such as agricultural or industrial equipment and a range of items such as lifts, cranes, forklifts - your skills will be integral to plant productivity!

This Apprenticeship will pave the way to employment as a Fixed Plant Mechanic within metal, engineering, manufacturing and mining industries, from iron ore mines in the Pilbara to local opportunities - your skills will be sought after, and you can expand on your knowledge with further studies.
