This two day intensive face to face safety supervisors training is designed for current and step-up supervisors in the mining and construction industry who have been nominated to become an appointed person/supervisor by their employer. The completion of this safety leadership course may contribute towards becoming an appointed person under Section 44. Your employer will advise on specific site or company requirements.

In this skill set, training is made relevant to operational requirements on-site meaning safety supervisors are able to apply skills and knowledge learnt, as soon as they return to site.

This course has been developed for all supervisors and personnel who are appointed under Section 44. It gives you an understanding of your legal obligations, responsibilities and duties as a Section 44 appointed person.

Mine managers are responsible for the safety of all personnel at a mine site however they are unable to monitor all parts of the operation at the same time. Fortunately, under Section 44 of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act (WA) a mine manager can delegate duties to others in order to assist them in meeting their obligations of a safe workplace.

Appointed Person
The Mine Manager may appoint competent persons where necessary to assist them to carry out their duties.

The Safety Leadership for Supervisors Skill Set is another component of Section 44 that is strongly recommended to be undertaken alongside the completion of this course. The completion of this Skill Set is currently a requirement on many major West Australian mine sites.
