South Metropolitan TAFE (SM TAFE) is partnering with Wodonga TAFE to increase its Defence force technical trades training capability.

In successfully securing the Australian Government’s Joint Technical Trades Training Services contract (JTTTS),  Wodonga TAFE will now lead, in partnership with SM TAFE and eight other providers across the country, the delivery of more than 100 accredited and non-accredited courses for the construction, engineering, mechanical, electrical and electronics trades.

By increasing the number of professional and para-professionals in Australia’s defence force, the initiative will help to boost the technical trades skills of its defence personnel.

From February 2024, SM TAFE will commence delivery of Certificate IV and Diploma level qualifications to Royal Australian Navy personnel as part of the new JTTTS contract. The contract will provide Electronics, Engineering, Electrical Systems, Welding, Marine Technician and Air Conditioning qualifications to sailors based in Western Australia.

SM TAFE is the leading defence training provider of choice in Western Australia with over 20 years’ experience and capability in delivering to defence personnel at its purpose-built facilities.
