Part 66 training

Train with the largest training provider in West Australia! Now a CASR Part 147 approved Maintenance Training Organisation in Australia.

SM TAFE's AeroSpace Training Centre at Jandakot campus now offers CASA's Part 66 modules and examinations, leading to CASR B1 and B2 licenses.

We are proud to offer a range of practical competency training and assessments and examination support for aircraft maintenance engineering outcomes as a CASR Part 147 approved maintenance training organisation. We conduct all modules and exams in accordance with CASR Part 147 approval #CASA.147 MTO0050.

Those looking for the self study pathway are encouraged to sit our exams.

Please note that students seeking B1 or B2 licensing will need to purchase textbooks at an additional cost.

When you study a module with us, the exam is included free. If you'd like to sit an exam only, choose a fortnightly session with a 9.30am timeslot on Tuesdays and a 6.30pm timeslot on Thursdays.

Module 1 - Mathematics

Duration: 8 week days, 8.30am to 4.30pm
Module fee: $2,527.00 (exam is included for free)
Exam fee: $260.00

Exam format:
Category A – 16 multi-choice and 0 essay questions. Time allowed 20 minutes.
Category B1 – 32 multi-choice and 0 essay questions. Time allowed 40 minutes.
Category B2 – 32 multi-choice and 0 essay questions. Time allowed 40 minutes.

Module 2 - Physics

Duration: 8 week days, 8.30am to 4.30pm
Module fee: $2,527.00 (exam is included for free)
Exam fee: $300.00

Exam format:
Category A – 32 multi-choice and 0 essay questions. Time allowed 40 minutes.
Category B1 – 52 multi-choice and 0 essay questions. Time allowed 65 minutes.
Category B2 – 52 multi-choice and 0 essay questions. Time allowed 65 minutes.

Module 3 - Electrical fundamentals

Duration: 8 week days, 8.30am to 4.30pm
Module fee: $2,527 (exam is included for free)
Exam fee: $300.00

Exam format:
Category A – 20 multi-choice and 0 essay questions. Time allowed 25 minutes.
Category B1 – 52 multi-choice and 0 essay questions. Time allowed 65 minutes.
Category B2 – 52 multi-choice and 0 essay questions. Time allowed 65 minutes.

Module 4 - Electronic fundamentals

Duration: 5 week days, 8.30am to 4.30pm
Module fee: $1,723.00 (exam is included for free)
Exam fee: $230.00

Exam format:
Category A – None.
Category B1 – 20 multi-choice and 0 essay questions. Time allowed 25 minutes.
Category B2 – 40 multi-choice and 0 essay questions. Time allowed 50 minutes.

Module 6 - Materials and hardware

Duration: 8 week days, 8.30am to 4.30pm
Module fee: $2,527.00 (exam is included for free)
Exam fee: $370.00

Exam format:
Category A – 52 multi-choice and 0 essay questions. Time allowed 65 minutes.
Category B1 – 72 multi-choice and 0 essay questions. Time allowed 90 minutes.
Category B2 – 60 multi-choice and 0 essay questions. Time allowed 75 minutes.

Module 7 - Maintenance practices

Duration: 11 week days, 8.30am to 4.30pm
Module fee: $3,432.00 (exam is included for free)
Exam fee: $255.00

Exam format:
Category A – 72 multi-choice and 2 essay questions. Time allowed 90 minutes plus 40 minutes.
Category B1 – 80 multi-choice and 2 essay questions. Time allowed 100 minutes plus 40 minutes.
Category B2 – 60 multi-choice and 2 essay questions. Time allowed 75 minutes plus 40 minutes.

Module 8 - Basic aerodynamics

Duration: 5 week days, 8.30am to 4.30pm
Module fee: $1,723.00 (exam is included for free)
Exam fee: $200.00

Exam format:
Category A – 20 multi-choice and 0 essay questions. Time allowed 25 minutes.
Category B1 – 20 multi-choice and 0 essay questions. Time allowed 25 minutes.
Category B2 – 20 multi-choice and 0 essay questions. Time allowed 25 minutes.
