The traineeships provide valuable industry experience, under the program launched by the former Federal Minister for Defence Industry, the Honourable Melissa Price, MP.

Trainees experience across a range of career options - from cyber security to logistics - to help you decide which path you want to take before entering the workplace.

Defence Industry partners:

Thanks to our current defence industry partners who are hosting our trainees:

Hear from our host employers:

Jeremy Antao - Operations Manager (WA), Marine | Australia, Babcock International Group

“Babcock has been involved in the Defence Industry Pathway Program (DIPP) since its inception as a host employer and member of the Steering Committee.

As a host employer, we provide our trainees with unique, multi-disciplined learning opportunities and introduce them to key skills and insights about the industry. Providing exposure across Babcock’s submarine and warship operations, we present our trainees with a range of activities from Engineering and Logistics to Project Management, giving them a broad range of domains to consider as career pathways.

We are thrilled to be part of a program that helps secure a future pipeline of highly skilled defence industry workforce.”

Blake Pilgrim - BAE Systems Australia Head of Production Operation and Transformation

“BAE Systems Australia is a proud supporter of the Defence Industry Pathway Program.

“The program helps to build and grow a future pipeline of highly-skilled shipbuilding industry specialists, which is particularly important to support future growth in the Defence sector.

“Individuals benefit from continuing their study and having it complemented by work placement rotations within the defence industry. Participants are exposed to the variety of career opportunities available within a global defence company such as BAE Systems.

“Employers, such as BAE Systems, also benefit by identifying future talent within the program.”

Katrina Gannon - Organisational Development Partner | Austal

“Austal has been involved in supporting the Defence Industry Pathway Program since the commencement of the Delivery Advisory Group meetings, supporting a Defence initiative to attract new pipelines of talent to industry. Programmed were engaged shortly prior to the commencement of the DIPP Programme and were able to attract and engage three intakes to date.

Austal has engaged eight Defence Industry Pathway Program Trainees, providing opportunities within our Supply Chain, ICT, Production and Stores environments. As one of the Host Employers it has been great to see how quickly the team at Programmed have implemented continuous improvement measures and made efforts to form solid partnerships with the Host Employers.

Austal looks forward to providing continued support working with talented individuals and supporting those that wish to make a career in the Defence Support Industry.”
