Gas Permit

Are you a gas fitter? Learn how to work with gas safely and correctly.

The Gas Permit course comprises three components, WA Gas Standards, Gas Safety and Basic Combustion and Flueing.

Successful completion of the final assessment will be needed to receive a completion letter that is required by Building and Energy to apply for a Gas Fitting Permit to Work Under Supervision.

You must be either employed as a Tradesperson in the Plumbing Industry OR be employed as an Apprentice in a training contract by an appropriate organisation.

Attendance in class

This course is equivalent to 2 days across one week from 8am - 3.45pm. The course is delivered over two days at Rockingham campus. 

Work placement

Work placement is not a requirement of this course.

What you need for your first day of class

On your first day you should bring your SM TAFE confirmation enrolment receipt, your student ID, stationery (a pen and notepad and wear enclosed footwear and equipment from orientation booklet lists).
