This course is for seafarers who have gained the qualification to coxswain on commercial vessels up to 12 metres long and need to complete your AMPA assessment to gain a Certificate of Competency from AMSA.

After completing a Coxswain External course an AMSA Mandated Practical Assessment (AMPA) will need to be completed to gain a Certificate of Competency from AMSA. To qualify to enrol in this course you must have completed the Coxswain course.
The National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV) Part D—Crew Competencies requires that a seafarer pass this final assessment prior to the issue of a certificate of competency. The AMSA Mandated Practical Assessment (AMPA) is the practical assessment of your operational skills and knowledge, and knowledge of Australian maritime legislation.
