During this 4-week “Introduction to Millinery” course you will learn how to block, shape, and manipulate wool felt.

 You will learn the basics of couture hat making.

  • how to stiffen, steam and stretch felt over a wooden block
  • how to wire a hat to ensure it holds its shape
  • how to attach a hat using wire, headband, combs, and elastics
  • how to use materials in an efficient and economical way
  • after blocking a hat, you will proceed onto trimming and decorating.
  • all students will complete 1 (maybe 2!) hat to take away

All students will gain invaluable millinery skills, allowing them to make hats on their own
