Design and calculate structures using industry technology.

This skill set provides a pathway to work as a Technical Officer who support Professional Engineers and use mathematics as a tool to analyse design problems.

  • calculate structural elements from basic beams, columns and walls through to more real-life complex examples in addition to exploring a variety of functions such as structural connections (welding and bolting)
  • structural mechanics: loads, analysis, materials, and design of members such as columns, beams, trusses and portal frames
  • calculate various load conditions to determine the strength and stiffness of structure by reporting component stress, strain and deformations
