Apply Maritime Resource Management Principles Skill Set

The Maritime Resource Management (MRM) course is a further development of the original SAS Bridge Resource Management course; it is more inclusive of the entire vessel. Maritime Resource Management is defined as the use and co-ordination of all the skills, knowledge, experiences and resources available to the crew to accomplish or achieve the goals of safety and efficiency.

Follow Vessel Security Procedures Skill Set

Under the Manila Amendments to the STCW Convention, it is now mandatory for all seafarers to possess knowledge related to security awareness, before engaging on board a vessel, and to undergo security related training. This course meets the requirements of Regulation V1/6 of the STCW Convention as amended.

Advanced Diving Skill Set

State ID: GAB13

This course is available to those who already have their Open Water Diver qualification, and are looking to increase their skills and confidence in the water.

There are no theory days nor pool days in this course.

Simply ocean diving - most of which will be made from our dive vessel, the Maritime Image.

Within the dives that you will complete as part of this course, you will also gain experience in deep diving, and night diving.

Certificate IV in Maritime Operations (Master up to 35 metres Near Coastal)

Certification as a Master less than 35 metres Near Coastal (as defined by the NSCV Part D) will require achievement of the MAR40618 Certificate IV in Maritime Operations (Master up to 35 metres Near Coastal), certification as a Master less than 24 metres Near Coastal, an appropriate radio certificate of proficiency, AMSA final assessment and an AMSA approved first aid certificate; people seeking certification should check with the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).

Certificate III in Maritime Operations (Master up to 24 metres Near Coastal)

National ID: MAR30918 | State ID: BDU4

This qualification will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to safely operate a commercial vessel of less than 24 metres in length within offshore limits. You will learn skills in shipboard safety, marine radio operation, navigation, ship knowledge and vessel operations.

In addition to successful completion of Certificate III in Maritime Operations (Master Under 24M Near Coastal), the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) requires students to successfully complete each of the following:

Study pathway

 

  • This qualification is suitable for people who work as a Master Under 24M Near Coastal in the maritime industry and Command a Commercial Marine Vessel which is up to 24 meters in length. The propulsion power must be unlimited for an outboard engine or up to 500 kW for an inboard engine.
  • Vessel: inshore or as a tender or auxiliary vessel within 3 nautical miles (nm) of a parent vessel within the exclusive economic zone (EEZ)

  • 525kw (35QN) propulsion power engaged in operations in any area; or750kw (50QN) propulsion power engaged in operations up to Australian Coastal - Middle Water Limits (600nm), or
  • 1500kw propulsion power engaged in operations up to Inshore limits (15nm).
