This qualification forms some of the requirements for certification as a commercial pilot by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) as directed by Civil Aviation Safety Regulation (CASR) Part 61 Flight crew licensing. People seeking certification should check these requirements with CASA.

Prior to entry into this qualification, applicants must:

  • Be over the age of 18 years to commence Commercial Pilot Training
  • Hold a current Class 1 medical or equivalent in accordance with CASA licencing requirements
  • Must hold a current Aviation Security Identification (ASIC)
  • Must have completed the CASA Aviation English assessment
  • Hold a Unique Student Identifier number
  • Must attend a South Metropolitan TAFE information briefing session
  • Must achieve a pass grade in the pre-entry aptitude assessment

Information relating to the dates and times of the pre-entry assessment and briefing sessions will be sent on application.

Course requirements

The Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence – Aeroplane) requires a significant commitment from learners to enrol into this qualification in terms of the cost and also in the time and dedication required to complete the course.
