Apprentices and trainees

As an apprentice or trainee you have entered into a training contract with an employer and have a study plan arranged in that contract for units at TAFE as agreed with your employer.

To find out more about the process of becoming an apprentice or trainee, visit the apprentices and trainees applications page.

Call up process

Once you are enrolled, we will allocate you into the next available block of study.

You and your employer will receive an email “call up” letter with important information and a campus map. We will also send reminder text message prior to your first day.

Your first day at campus

Some campuses have limited parking so please refer to our Smart Travel advice to plan your travel.

If you are required to travel long distances to attend off-the-job training, you may be eligible for travel and accommodation allowance.

You may need to arrange Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), equipment etc to study in our on-campus workshops, see our training area specific requirements.

Financial support

The Federal Government has a range of initiatives to help apprentices study, such as Trade Support Loans of up to $20,000 for those working in specific skills sets, Additional Identified Skills Shortage Payment for study in ten occupations experiencing national skills shortages, Living Away from Home Allowance and disability support.
