SketchUp Pro – an introduction to 3D modeling and final presentation of landscape plans in Layout.

CUAACD302 Produce Computer-aided Drawings

The course covers the following: Basic tools, personalising the default tray, creating groups and components, working with different renders, inserting a base plan, resizing the plan, drawing garden beds, walls and other features of a landscape plan, inserting plants, creating scenes, working in different views, working in Layout to create your own template with your business logo, finalising a scaled presentation of plans for your client.

Places are limited due to the size of the computer lab. Maximum number 18 students.

Frequently asked questions:

  • Can I use my own plan or project? No we will all use the same project for the duration of the course. You will be shown how to insert base plans for the project.
  • Can I bring my own laptop? Yes most of our students prefer to do this and it is encouraged. However there is no tech support for your personal device at the campus.
  • Do you use Windows or Apple systems? We use windows at the college and the course is taught using this system. Some of the students have used Apple devices and there are one or two differences. This will be discussed in the first lesson.
  • Can I log into the TAFE WiFi? Yes once you are enrolled and have paid your fees you can.
  • Should I download SketchUP before the start of this course? No it is advisable to wait because we cover how and what to do in the first lesson.
  • What if I miss a day? You are given notes for each class and you will have to catch up and practice at home.
  • Can I access the notes from home? Yes the course notes are located on the Blackboard system (this will be explained in your first lesson).
  • Do I have to practice at home? Yes you should spend at least 2 – 3hrs a week practicing what you learn.
  • Do I have to do a test and assignment? Yes there are two assignments.
  • Do I have to do the assignments to attend this class? If you do not wish complete the assignments you will not gain the unit of competency but you can still enroll and attend for the knowledge and skill you will attain.
