There are two units of the Course in Painters Registration included in this short course.

D7385 Prepare surfaces for painting (CPCCPD3021A)

This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to restore, repair and prepare different material surfaces for the application of paint.The unit includes planning and preparation for the work, preparation of new or uncoated surfaces, preparation of previously coated surfaces, preparation of previously wallpapered surfaces for painting and completion of clean-up activities.

82985 PRB colour and wallpapering (82985)

You will learn about coating systems, colour theory and wallpapering techniques.

Participants must have previous experience in the painting industry and be seeking licensing with the Building Commission.

Completion of all four units from the Course in Painters Registration will satisfy requirements for licensing.

The Course in Painters Registration will provide you with the skills and knowledge to work as a contractor in the painting and decorating industry. You will learn about surface preparation, coating systems, colour theory and wallpapering techniques. You will also learn how to estimate costs associated with the acquisition of materials and labour on building and construction sites and understand the practice of running a painting and decorating business.
