Build your career in electrical design and contracting by understanding on how to create project specific requirements, drawings, schematics, schedules, estimates, and common tendering document procedures used in Australian electrical work and services.

This is a Blackboard Learning Management System based course (online). Access to AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical and Estimation software is mandatory.

There are prerequisite requirements which are covered as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) based on previous qualification and work experience.

Pre-requisite units:

  • UEENEEE101A Apply Occupational Health and Safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace
  • UEENEEE102A Fabricate, dismantle, assemble of utilities industry components
  • UEENEEE107A Use drawings, diagrams, schedules, standards, codes and specifications

  • UEENEED104A - Use engineering applications software on personal computers WC388
  • UEENEED101A - Use computer applications relevant to a workplace WC385
  • UEENEEE190A - Prepare engineering drawings using manual drafting and CAD for electrotechnology utilities applications WC454

Upon completion of the course a student will be able to demonstrate they have learned:

  • Interpret electrical drawings and diagrams using knowledge of Australian drawing conventions and symbols
  • Create electrical and electronic diagrams, schematics, control circuit diagrams, and documentation using Electrical CAD software
  • Make up material take-off, job list and labour force from information given in project specifications and drawings using electrical estimation software
  • Outline the purpose of a contract and planning to provide electrical services
  • Formatting and compiling documents for successful tender responses

This is part of UEE62111 Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology - Electrical, a nationally recognised qualification.
