Civil Construction Designers support professional engineers in the design of civil works. They develop site specific work designs to ensure the implementation of the client’s site requirements.

Road design, and drainage system design which are generally part of cities urban development and strategic planning will be covered in this skillset. Use of AutoCAD Civil 3D enhances and provides a set of tools for rapid creation and output of civil site design projects

Units covered include:

  • RIICWD508D - Prepare detailed design of rural roads
  • RIICWD509D - Prepare detailed design of urban roads
  • RIICWD528D - Prepare detailed design of traffic management systems
  • RIICWD530D - Prepare detailed design of surface drainage
  • RIICWD531D - Prepare detailed design of subsurface drainage

Upon completion of the course a student will be able to demonstrate they have learned to:

  • Identify viable and preferred design options
  • Produce CAD model of a subdivision and supported services
  • Produce cost estimate of project

This is part of: RII50515 - Diploma of Civil Construction Design, a nationally recognised qualification. There are prerequisite requirements which are covered as prior learning (RPL).

Your qualification prepares you for roles such as:

Design supervisor building and infrastructure projects. Interpreting work assignment instructions, applying appropriate procedures and selecting equipment, estimating material costs and ensuring finished works are within specifications, regulations and contract provisions
