Civil Construction Structures Management

Civil Construction Designers support professional engineers in the design of construction works. They develop site specific work designs to ensure the implementation of the client’s site requirements.

Project scenarios will be used covering key principles and practices of earthworks, and construction materials including concrete, steel and timber.

Units covered include:

  • RIIMPO402D - Apply the principles of earthworks construction
  • RIICWD501D - Prepare detailed design of foundations
  • RIICSG401D - Apply the principles of civil concrete structures construction
  • RIICSG402D - Apply the principles of civil steel structures construction
  • RIICSG403D - Apply the principles of civil timber structure construction  

Upon completion of the course a student will be able to demonstrate they have learned to:

  • Schedule and estimation of construction tasks
  • Calculate foundation requirements
  • Manage schedule and job plan. Adjust job plan as required to ensure required outcomes are achieved
  • Review of project to improve safety, efficiency and effectiveness

Your qualification prepares you for roles such as:

Design supervisor building and infrastructure projects. Interpreting work assignment instructions, applying appropriate procedures and selecting equipment , estimating material costs and ensuring finished works are within specifications, regulations and contract provisions .
