The delivery of training and/or assessment by industry in collaboration with South Metropolitan TAFE as the Registered Training Organisation (RTO)
Delivered in partnership with industry, this model provides an excellent framework to prepare students with work-ready skills in a supportive training environment.
Future-focused in our training design, the Program is tailored to our industry partner requirements providing scholarship-funded entry-level certificate training coupled with enrichment opportunities, including guest speakers and site visits to further develop skills and knowledge.
The unique model has been proven successful in attracting female and Indigenous cohorts into training and preparing them for entry to employment upon completion.

When South Metropolitan TAFE visits a site during the discovery phase, we’ll engage with your staff to gain valuable insights into your workplace and environment. This on-site interaction allows us to better understand the context, challenges, and unique aspects of the organisation
Training needs analysis (TNA) identifies the gaps between what employees currently know and can do - their actual knowledge, skills, and abilities, and what they should know and be able to do in their job roles. A TNA helps align organisational goals and individual career development. Following the identification of gaps in skills and knowledge, SM TAFE can provide gap training.
Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is an assessment process to evaluate a person’s skills, knowledge and experience gained through work skills and exposure to your industry, paid or unpaid experience and other community experience to meet industry standards. RPL can provide credit towards a nationally recognised Australian qualification and can often shorten the time required to complete a qualification and may not require any additional study.
RPL can provide staff with the opportunity to gain a full or partial qualification without having to study subjects they already have skills in, saving time and money by completing a qualification in a shorter period of time.
