Lower fees, local skills

Now is the time to take up study with selected high priority qualification's fees reduced to encourage more graduates with skills for jobs of the future.

lfls-logo-smallest.pngFrom 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2021, your course fees will be capped so that the maximum you'll pay each year for your qualification will be only $1,200; or $400 if you're aged 15—24 or eligible for a concession.

FAQs

How do I apply for a lower fees, local skills course?

Applications for Semester 1 are open right now and for most courses, can be made via TAFE Admissions. Some courses are available to study from 1 January as anytime start, self paced study, and so you may be able to apply directly to the training area Manager to begin the process of enrolment. Some courses are available for study as an apprenticeship or traineeship, requiring you to be employed with an organisation willing to register you as an apprentice or trainee and formalise a training contract. 

For specific instructions for each course, find the course page on our website - use the list above in our 'Course list' section. Once on the course page you will see a section that says "Delivery location, important dates and study options". Under the purple heading listing each available campus or study mode for the course, a message will display at the right of the table with instructions on how to apply, and a link to the web page with your next step. 

I have already received an offer for a course, but want to apply for one of the lower fees, local skills courses. How do I do that?

Your TAFE Admissions offer will need to be rescinded first so you can free your application record to apply for another course. Call us on 1800 001 001 and ask to speak to a TAFE Admissions officer for assistance.

I have already made a TAFE Admissions application and not yet received an offer. How do I change my preference to a lower fees, local skills course?

Preferences for round 1 applications can be changed up until 6 December 2019. To change your preference log back in to the TAFE Admissions website and manage your preference for the lower fees, local skills course there.
