A tick of approval from the Naval Shipbuilding College

On Tuesday 12 December 2019, the Naval Shipbuilding College announced their official endorsement of our Engineering Fabrication Trade training program. Developed in collaboration with industry, the program aims to increase the availability of a trained and skilled workforce for the shipbuilding industry, both State-wide and nationally. 

This endorsement is an ode to SM TAFE's commitment to creating skilled, job-ready workers for priority roles in the shipbuilding industry, supporting WA's thriving defence sector. The Minister for Education and Training, Hon Sue Ellery BA MLC and the Minister for Tourism; Racing; and Gaming; Small Business; Defence Issues; Citizenship and Multicultural Interests, Hon Paul Papalia CSC MLA, have recognised this endorsement as an additional acknowledgement to SM TAFE's position as a leader in defence industry training. 

"This endorsement recognises South Metropolitan TAFE as a leader in defence industry training and places Western Australia at the forefront of providing a skilled and highly capable workforce to the naval shipbuilding industry now and into the future," - Minister for Education and Training, Hon Sue Ellery BA MLC. 

"The McGowan Government is committed to establishing Western Australia as the primary hub for the maintenance and sustainment of submarines and frigates. This would create thousands of jobs for Western Australians for decades to come," - Minister for Tourism; Racing; and Gaming; Small Business; Defence Issues; Citizenship and Multicultural Interests, Hon Paul Papalia CSC MLA.
