Career assistance for older Australians

South Metropolitan TAFE is helping mature-aged job seekers become more competitive in their local labour market thanks to the Career Transition Assistance (CTA) program.

The CTA program is an Australian Government initiative that helps Australian's 45 years and over build their skills and confidence to increase their employability.

Older Australians who are looking for work or a new career  in the south metropolitan area can access this program at no cost.

If you are registered with a jobactive provider ask them to refer you to one of South Metropolitan TAFE’s (SM TAFE) CTA courses at the following four campuses:

  • Fremantle
  • Thornlie
  • Rockingham
  • Mandurah

CTA runs for eight weeks and the sessions are delivered face-to-face, one-on-one and in group settings, guided by qualified facilitators.

These sessions provide practical support to:

  • explore your goals and motivations
  • identify existing skills and how they transfer to job opportunities
  • understand your local job market
  • update and tailor your resume
  • apply for jobs online and practice interview skills
  • develop practical ICT and digital skills to apply for jobs.

You can join CTA at any time and the sessions will be tailored to your individual needs.  Ask your jobactive provider to refer you to CTA at South Metropolitan TAFE and see our CTA flyer for more information.
