South Metropolitan TAFE (SM TAFE) students are collaborating with the WA Police Graffiti Team to replace unsightly vandalism with artistic murals.

The first targets for improvement are telecommunication huts along the Kwinana Freeway in South Perth, which have warranted a large volume of complaints.

Last night (23 November) SM TAFE’s fashion students presented their stunning collections at our Aerospace Training Centre in Jandakot; the culmination of an intense three years of study.

More than 600 guests were in attendance, including members of WA’s fashion industry, media, student’s family, friends and staff.

The event was a memorable experience for attendees with models walking the runway in front of a Boeing 737.

South Metropolitan TAFE’s (SM TAFE) hospitality training area has triumphed at The Catering Institute of WA’s 2016 Gold Plate Awards gala, taking home a 10th consecutive Gold Plate Award.

Held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, the evening saw SM TAFE’s Quinlan’s Training Restaurant win the award for best Restaurant within a Training Establishment category and the Bentley Pines Training Restaurant was inducted into the Gold Plate Hall of Fame, a rare feat.

The UEEA Training Council had the pleasure of attending the graduation of four trainees who participated in the Water Corporation’s first School Based Traineeship program.

The nature of the water sector has, to date, meant that a job seeker cannot undertake water industry specific qualifications without first obtaining employment.  Whilst this initiative still involves employment, it introduces potential workers while they are still at school.
