The national Future Battery Industries Cooperative Research Centre (FBICRC) was established in Perth in 2019 to provide industry-led research capability to grow Australia's competitiveness and contribution in the global battery industries value chain. About fifty industry participants, eight universities, the CSIRO and Commonwealth and State Governments will collaborate over the next six years to support industry expansion and growth. SM TAFE has been engaged as an associate and education and training partner of the FBICRC to lead the development of strategies to address current and future vocational skills gaps for the Australian future battery industry. This initiative provides SM TAFE with the opportunity for early evaluation of the skills needs of the future battery industry nationally.
