Bentley Campus has been Perth’s leading fashion design institution for over 50 years. Our fashion design and business courses provide students with versatile design and business study skills that get them jobs in a fast-paced,  global industry.

You can study the creative and technical skills for fashion design and textiles development; or study the enterprise skills to work in fashion business.  Free parking, Computer Aided Design (CAD) patternmaking, grading and illustration facilities, world class fashion design and textile forecasting resources, over 80 specialised industrial sewing machines, and a staff of fashion industry specialists, are key to our successes with our industry relevant courses, graduate employment outcomes and recognition in the sector.

Our courses include live work design projects where you will be involved in external design exhibits and Perth fashion shows, meeting guest lecturers, industry excursions, design internships and designing for local Western Australian labels. Our graduates work here and overseas in fashion design, fashion production management, patternmaking, specialist construction, sourcing and buying, spec-writing, fashion event management, fashion marketing and social media, e-commerce, small business ownership and more.

When you complete the Advanced Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising at Bentley, you’re ready to work as a fashion designer, product developer, production manager, CAD operator, CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) operator, distribution coordinator, fashion/ textile and colour forecaster, garment finisher, pattern grader/maker, production consultant, or specialised construction machinist.

The Advanced Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising course is the final year of three years of fashion study. Culminating in a professional showcase of student collections at an industry-attended fashion show, this course covers every aspect of a fashion cycle. Students and staff work together to build a graduate portfolio and professional profile to prepare graduates for employment.

The fees and duration of study on this website for this qualification are for the final advanced diploma year only, students enter this qualification after completing the Diploma in Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising.

With over 80 specialised industrial sewing machines and state-of-the-art digital equipment to master your skills, you can learn in simulated workplace design studios that represent a real-life work setting. Our courses also include live work design projects where students are involved in producing external design exhibits and Australia-wide fashion shows, meeting guest lecturers and industry excursions. 
    This course also includes an industry work placement which increases graduate employment outcomes and opportunities, and students can expect to gain employment in local, national and international fashion environments.

    Intro to Virtual 3D Fashion

    Learn to use CLO3D, 3D Fashion software, to create virtual true-to life garment visualisation.  This software will make it easy to fine-tune the fit of your designs before creating physical garments, minimising waste and time. 

    Learn how to:

    • Draft, sew and fit simple patterns in the virtual CLO3D environment
    • Import a pattern and fit on a virtual 3D avatar
    • Adjust an avatar to bespoke fit model measurements
    • Manipulate virtual garment components to change fabric render, trims, labelling & styling
    • Render a finished garment for use as a selling tool (lookbook, social media promo, online website)
