How to enrol

Get ready to enrol to secure your place!  

You can apply for the majority of our courses through TAFE Admissions. If your application is successful you will receive an offer to study with us, then it's time to enrol.

Enrolling is easy! All you have to do is follow the simple steps detailed below to secure your place.

1. Get ready to enrol by submitting your evidence to us via our 'get ready to enrol' webform

Our webform form will take about 10 - 15 minutes to complete and will require you to upload the following evidence. For more information about evidence required, download our 'Get ready to enrol' checklist (120 KB) (PDF document). Please note you will need to have a TAS number to submit this webform; this number can be found on your offer letter.

  1. Proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency (such as a green Medicare card, Passport or birth certificate) 

  2. Proof of concession (if you are eligible) - this includes any proof of age ID for persons between 15 - 24 years of age 

  3. Unique Student Identifier (USI) number - here's how to get one

  4. Proof of Western Australian residency (such as your Drivers Licence or Utility bill showing your address).

  5. Payment preference - Be able to advise us of your preferred method of payment and have completed the payment plan form if applicable. Go to the payment options page for more information.

Please note: these documents are considered highly confidential and will be stored securely against your student record. 

We encourage you to submit your evidence via the 'get ready to enrol' webform as soon as possible so that it can be processed and you are ready to go as soon as enrolments open. This will give you the best chance of securing a place in your desired course. If you are having trouble using the 'get ready to enrol' webform you can call us on 1300 553 444 or come to campus where our friendly staff will be able to assist you. Once we have gathered your personal information you will be asked to email your evidence through to student.documents@smtafe.wa.edu.au

2. Secure your place

Once we have reviewed your evidence we will send you an email advising that you are ready to enrol. You can then finalise your enrolment and make payment by:

  1. Calling our enrolment call centre or book a call back - contact us on 1300 553 444 (closed public holidays and weekends).

  2. Pay over the phone by credit card or funds transfer OR Pay a minimum $100 deposit to activate a payment plan - you can find more information about our payment options here.

  3. Come to the Customer Service counter at any of our campuses to pay with cash.

Can't enrol by the cut off date but still want to study? Call us on 1300 553 444 to discuss your options. While its best to get in early to guarantee a spot in your desired course, there may still be places available right through to the end of January.

Diploma and Advanced Diploma students: For eligible students studying in eligible courses, you may apply for a VET Student Loan.
