Career planning

South Metropolitan TAFE provides a free service to ensure prospective and current students receive the best opportunities for success in the workplace and in their future careers.

Our career advisors are part of the wider Jobs and Skills Centre network, with three centres hosted on our Mandurah, Rockingham and Thornlie campuses. Services are free and available to anyone, even if you don't intend on studying with us!

We can assist with career planning, career pathways and course selection and can provide advice on:

  • university pathways
  • retraining
  • applications
  • entrance requirements and selection processes
  • recognition of prior learning
  • apprenticeships and traineeships
  • industry skills shortage needs
  • changing or withdrawing from a course

For graduates and jobseekers

We are also able to assist current students with job search techniques and resumes with regular workshops anyone can freely attend. See our events page for the next workshop dates and ways to register.

For schools and community groups

Our careers advisors can also visit schools and community groups to deliver presentations and provide access to career questions. Make an appointment on the school and community visits page.

For employers, career-changers, school leavers, basically anyone!

To find out more about what Jobs and Skills Centres do and to book a one-on-one appointment, visit the Jobs and Skills Centres page.

Career Transition Assistance for mature-aged job seekers

We deliver the Career Transition Assistance (CTA) program on behalf of the Australian Government. The CTA program provides practical assistance at no cost to help older Australians gain the practical, modern skills they need for ongoing employment.

See our Pathways look book below to see where our courses can take you.
