CTF Construction Careers Scholarship Program

The Construction Training Fund (CTF) awards the Construction Careers Scholarship Program to Western Australian students who are interested in pursuing an apprenticeship in the building industry. 

Students in the program complete a fully funded pre-apprenticeship, providing students with the opportunity to work towards a building and construction apprenticeship. 

This program combines work experience, training and education to help students explore and plan their career options. 

This program is open to Year 11 and 12 students and may provide credit or reduce the time spent as an apprentice. 

Applications close on 31 August 2025.

Students in the Construction Careers Scholarship Program complete a fully funded pre-apprenticeship course. This includes theoretical and practical training, as well as construction site work experience. 

As part of the program, students will also receive: 

  • support and advice from industry trainers, CTF's Industry Training Advisors and past trainees
  • free mentoring and job-readiness training
  • uniforms and personal protective equipment

  • 52893WA Certificate II in Building and Construction (Pathway - Trades) (Brick and Block Laying Pre- apprenticeship)
  • 52893WA Certificate II in Building and Construction (Pathway - Trades) (Carpentry Pre-apprenticeship)
  • 52893WA Certificate II in Building and Construction (Pathway - Trades) (Wall and Ceiling Lining Pre apprenticeship)
  • 52922WA Certificate II in Building and Construction Technical Support

Applicants will need to be in Year 10 or 11 and interested in completing a pre-apprenticeship at school for Years 11 and/or 12. 

Consent from the school and parents is required to participate. 

  1. Students can select to apply for a one-year or two-year course (depending on availability), and CTF will contact applicants within a week to confirm their applications. 
  2. Applications for courses starting in 2026 will close on 31 August 2025. 
  3. Once applications have closed, the selected training providers will work with CTF to contact selected students for an information session and interview. 
  4. Offers will be made to students in October and November 2025. 
  5. Students are advised to keep their VET Coordinators at their school informed regarding their application progress.
