Make a difference in the community 

Gain the skills to prepare for a career helping others in your community. 

You will learn to work effectively and appropriately with individuals and groups in a diverse range of community organisations. This introductory course will also help you learn community advocacy and development. 

Gain these skills: 

  • Organise and complete daily work activities 
  • Provide first point of contact 
  • Communicate and work in health or community services 
  • Work with diverse people 
  • Provide first aid   
  • Participate in workplace health and safety 
  • Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures 

Fees:

Please note if you are not eligible for fee free training, the following fees apply.

  • Tuition fees: $587.35 or free for concession
  • Resource fees: $255.25

  • Starts 19 July to 10 December.

Bentley    

  • Starts 2 August to 10 December.

Mandurah    

  • Starts 2 August to 10 December.

Requirements of the course

This course includes both online study and on-campus study and assessment.

Once enrolled, you will receive information about how to login to our eCampus and you will need to complete a literacy and numeracy quiz to show you can study the course online. Your study will involve accessing content online for 1 study module, followed by a series of online quiz assessments to test your knowledge.

When you finish your online study, there is two days a week attendance for the duration of the course at campus for the remaining modules, plus a compulsory requirement to attend a practical demonstration and assessment session.

 This course can help you get ready for your first job, or re-skill quickly for jobs that are available as WA's economy recovers. This course is free for 15 to 24 year olds; or those who are receiving JobSeeker, JobKeeper, Youth Allowance, AUSTUDY or ABSTUDY payments; or concession cardholders. If you’re not eligible, you can pay the course fee to gain these skills and become highly employable. See the full eligibility list in the important information tab below. Free

If you're aged 15—24 years (not at school), receiving the JobSeeker or JobKeeper payment, receiving Youth Allowance, AUSTUDY or ABSTUDY or holding a pensioner concession card, Health Care Card or a Repatriation Health Benefits Card issued by the Department of Veterans' Affairs, or a dependent of persons who are inmates of a custodial institution, you are eligible to enrol for free!

* Please note that eligibility requirements apply to some of the free training.

Skill-sets

Job ready skill sets are 100% free for the following eligible students:

  • People aged 15—24 years at the time of enrolment (excluding school students)
  • Secondary school-aged people who are not enrolled at school
  • People receiving the JobSeeker or JobKeeper payment
  • People and dependents of people receiving the Youth Allowance, AUSTUDY or ABSTUDY
  • People and dependents of people holding:
    -  pensioner concession card or Health Care Card; or
    - a Repatriation Health Benefits Card issued by the Department of Veterans' Affairs
  • Dependents of people who are inmates of a custodial institution
