This course also covers current makeup trends, latest design techniques and how to consult with clients to meet their needs at a commercial level.
This course enables you to work as a freelance makeup artist or in a hair or beauty salon performing makeup. On successful completion of this course students will have achieved national recognised units of competence which are part of the SHB40121 Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy qualification.

- apply colour principles and design
- contouring and highlighting techniques
- eyeshadow shading techniques to create fashion, bridal and photographic designs
This short course is fast paced and requires good hand eye coordination along with a high level of communication and English skills to ensure successful completion. Students are required to have access to a computer. You will be required to provide models for this course which will be advised by your lecturer once classes start.
Students are also required to practice their skills at home during this course.
Attendance in class
This course is delivered 1 evening per week for 12 weeks, from 6pm to 9pm.
Your course induction in the first class will provide to you all learning material required for the course. We also provide:
- Makeup brush set for home and course practice
- MAC, Kryolan, Crown and Dermalogica products used in class
What you will need to arrange:
- Wear black pants and black top with enclosed shoes
- Hair must be tied back neatly, and professional presentation of makeup is required
- We recommended bringing a camera or mobile phone to take before and after photos
- Models will be required for practical classes – we will explain this in your first class
At night our campuses have free parking and security is present on the premises.
