South Metropolitan TAFE has a wide range of fields that you can specialise in including multimedia design, beauty, fashion, and floristry.

Learn the advanced, complex floristry skills to become a design master.

This skill set will provide you with the specialised floristry skills and knowledge required for corporate, competition, contemporary and events design.

You will have the unique opportunity to participate in some of WA’s major floral events and showcases.

Delivered over 38 weeks, five hours per week, this skill set enables you to develop and perfect your design skills.

You will need to have a Certificate III in Floristry or significant industry experience to be eligible.

Enrol on 29 and 30 January 2020 (part-time enrolment day).

When: Tuesdays (starting February 4, 2020)
Time: 8am - 1:30pm


This skill set can be used as credit towards the SFL40115 Certificate IV in Floristy.

Launch into a career in fashion

When you complete the Advanced Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising at Bentley, you’re ready to work as a fashion designer, product developer, production manager, CAD operator, CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) operator, distribution coordinator, fashion/ textile and colour forecaster, garment finisher, pattern grader/maker, production consultant, or specialised construction machinist.

The Advanced Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising course is the final year of three years of fashion study. Culminating in a professional showcase of student collections at an industry-attended fashion show, this course covers every aspect of a fashion cycle. Students and staff work together to build a graduate portfolio and professional profile to prepare graduates for employment.

The fees and duration of study on this website for this qualification are for the final advanced diploma year only, students enter this qualification after completing the Diploma in Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising.

Fashion Business Skills in a Global Industry

Do you want to have a career in a fashion business environment? The Fashion Business and Merchandising pathway at Bentley immerses you in creative fashion business skills such as fashion forecasting and buying; visual merchandising and digital engagement; and marketing and social media.

You will learn the legal, financing and trade essentials for fashion enterprise and the import and export of product.

Course topics include:

  • international fashion sourcing;
  • sustainable supply and manufacturing;
  • creation of accurate costings
  • tech packs for managing offshore production.

When you complete the Diploma in Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising (Business and Merchandising Pathway) at Bentley, you’re ready to work as an Assistant Buyer, Assistant Visual Merchandiser; Social Media Creator; Assistant Product Developer; Fashion Influencer/Stylist; or Fashion Business Owner in retail or e-commerce.

This course includes an internship component in a fashion business environment.

Are you ready for your career to bloom?

Do you have creative flair and an eye for detail? This floristry qualification will set you on the path to becoming a 'budding' leader in floral design work

We teach you more than just about the flowers, once you have mastered the basic commercial skills, we show you how to execute custom-made, cutting-edge, large and small scale design briefs

Our lecturers have a wealth of industry experience, a passion for flowers and offer a supportive training environment for you to gain a National Qualification, and expose you to the exciting  industry of professional floristry.

Some of the skills you'll learn in Certificate III in Floristry include:

  • Designing, constructing and selling a diverse range of floristry products.
  • Developing practical construction and technique skills 
  • A comprehensive knowledge of the key tools for floral design and the elements and principles.
  • Working in a live environment to develop your speed of construction.

We deliver training at both Murdoch and Bunbury. Murdoch has new, specialised facilities and our Bunbury course is delivered at the unique Red Mill Studio , a specialised facility dedicated to creative art and design.

Become a Flower Master

Are you ready to turn your passion for flowers into a budding career as a florist? Our Certificate IV in Floristry teaches the advanced, complex components required to turn floristry into a successful business venture.

Some of the skills you will gain include:

  • Staff leadership and guidance

You will learn advanced floral design principles for various settings such as corporate, competition, contemporary and events.  This course is delivered at South Metropolitan TAFE over 2 semesters, which equates to 1 year of part-time study.

GAB52 GAB52 Nail Technology Skill Set Skill set Part Time

Develop the practical skills and knowledge to care for and enhance the appearance of nails. 

Learn the skills and knowledge to apply, maintain and remove acrylic and gel nails, apply advanced nail art and the use of the electric drill. You will learn how to consult with clients, select suitable products and techniques and apply nail enhancements that include overlays, refills, tips and French.  

Learn how to:

  • Apply gel nail enhancements
  • Apply acrylic nail enhancements
  • Apply nail art
  • Use electric file equipment for nail services
  • Apply advanced nail art
  • Apply safe hygiene, health and work practices

 

Course induction material is provided on the first night. We will advise you on the purchase of a suitable nail kit at an approximate cost of $130.00. All other course materials are supplied.

On successful completion of this course students will have achieved national recognised units of competence which are part of the SHB30315 Certificate III in Nail Technology qualification.

Free parking. Security is present on the premises for evening classes.

Requirements:

  • Access to a computer
  • Basic acrylic nail kit
  • 2 hand towels
  • Students are required to wear black pants and black top with enclosed shoes
  • Hair must be tied back neatly and professional presentation is required
  • Models will be required for practical classes – this information will be provided in your first class
