Launch into a career in fashion

When you complete the Advanced Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising at Bentley, you’re ready to work as a fashion designer, product developer, production manager, CAD operator, CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) operator, distribution coordinator, fashion/ textile and colour forecaster, garment finisher, pattern grader/maker, production consultant, or specialised construction machinist.

The Advanced Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising course is the final year of three years of fashion study. Culminating in a professional showcase of student collections at an industry-attended fashion show, this course covers every aspect of a fashion cycle. Students and staff work together to build a graduate portfolio and professional profile to prepare graduates for employment.

The fees shown on this website for this Qualification are for the final year only, students who have not completed the Diploma will need to budget for the two years to complete the Diploma level units as well.

Fashion Business Skills in a Global Industry

Do you want to have a career in a fashion business environment? The Fashion Business and Merchandising pathway at Bentley immerses students in creative fashion business skills such as fashion forecasting and buying; visual merchandising and digital engagement; and marketing and social media. Students learn the legal, financing and trade essentials for fashion enterprise and the import and export of product. Course topics include international fashion sourcing; sustainable supply and manufacturing; and the creation of accurate costings and tech packs for managing offshore production.

When you complete the Diploma in Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising (Business and Merchandising Pathway) at Bentley, you’re ready to work as an Assistant Buyer, Assistant Visual Merchandiser; Social Media Creator; Assistant Product Developer; Fashion Influencer/Stylist; or Fashion Business Owner in retail or e-commerce.

This course includes an internship component in a fashion business environment.

Are you ready for a blooming beautiful career?

 

This qualification will set you on the path to working in floristry - a diverse career which could be in retail, a studio, events, or even online business.

Some of the skills you'll learn in Certificate III in Floristry include:

  • Designing, constructing and selling a diverse range of floristry products
  • Developing the knowledge of construction techniques
  • Understanding floristry designs and principles

Students will be expected to use discretion and judgment, while working under limited supervision and providing technical advice and support to team members.

This Qualification is also available as a Traineeship. To study as a Trainee, you must be employed in a training contract by an appropriate organisation. Please see the Apprenticeships/Traineeships section for more information.

Turn your passion for flowers into a thriving business

 

Certificate IV in Floristry covers the complex components required to turn floristry into a successful business venture.

Some of the skills you will gain include:

  • Evaluating current practices
  • Analysing market conditions
  • Staff leadership and guidance

In terms of floral design, the course will also cover advanced design principles for various setting such as corporate, competition, contemporary and events.  This course is delivered at South Metropolitan TAFE over 2 semesters, which equates to 1 year of part-time study.

When you complete the Certificate II in Floristry (Assistant) you'll have taken the first steps towards a rewarding career in the floristry industry. We are the only public training provider  in WA to provide a nationally accredited floristry qualification.

This course provides trade-level training for the floristry industry.
