Have you completed the digital photography basics skill set and want to learn more? Do you already have a good camera knowledge but want to build your portfolio and photography skills? Do you want to up your image editing game and learn how to impress with Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom?  Then this course is for you!

This course follows on from the Digital Photography Basics Skill Set and allows you to take your photography skills to the next level.

The intermediate digital photography course is aimed at those who already have a basic knowledge of their camera, but want to improve their technical skills. This course covers both camera techniques and image editing workshops. It is a fun and engaging course for people of all ages.

Topics covered in this course include:

  • Portraiture – tips on improving portrait photography
  • Lighting on location – natural and artificial lighting
  • Using an external flash
  • Selective colourisation and colour splash photography
  • Product photography workshop
  • Capturing water droplets workshop 
  • Photo-stitching & capturing panoramas 
  • Macro photography in the studio
  • Processing RAW images
  • Adobe Lightroom training
  • Adobe Photoshop training
  • Photography folio presentation

This course has packed the intermediary skills from the Certificate IV in Digital Media Technologies (ICT40815) into a short course allowing students to develop professional skills in photographic editing.

Those students beginning in photography are encouraged to build foundation skills first in our basic Digital Photography Skill Set short course. 

2020 Dates:

This course runs Thursday nights, 5pm to 8pm for 10 weeks each at Rockingham campus - dates TBC.

Delivery location, important dates and study options

This course may be offered with a blended, flexible delivery model to enable social distancing measures to be undertaken during the COVID-19 pandemic. This approach may include a mix of online and classroom based delivery, as well as practical and work experience placements. Lecturers will provide any specific instructions if your training delivery style needs to change.
