Dieback Control Alone skill set

Dieback disease is found all around the Perth Metropolitan area, causing disease in native banksia woodlands and jarrah forests. It attacks the roots of plants by causing them to rot, causing widespread damage to native vegetation. 

As per WA Department of Health, Pest Management Technicians Licence, Endorsement 8, this Skill Set will result in knowledge of the identification and treatment of dieback disease.

  • safely prepare and apply chemicals
  • safely handle, transport and store chemicals
  • identify and assess the effect to plants of plant pests, diseases and disorders (including dieback), and plan and coordinate control measures

To gain your Pest management technician licence, you may apply for a Pest Management Technician (PMT) Licence to the Department of Health WA, when you satisfy all the following criteria:

  • Are at least 18 years of age
  • Are employed by, or self-employed, in a pest management business that is registered by the DOH
  • Have been declared medically fit
  • Are considered a ‘fit and proper’ person to hold a licence
  • You are not required to have a provisional technician licence to undertake this Skill Set
