Are you looking for a career in construction using the largest tools?

When you complete the Civil Construction Skill Set you'll be creating a pathway to a career as a mobile plant operator, bridge construction worker, pipe layer/drainer, underground utility installation, traffic management, or road construction worker.

South Metropolitan TAFE provides quality training that serves both employers and employees. Employers gain the benefits of skilled and accredited employees and the employee gains the knowledge, skill, confidence and a sense of pride when completing the skillset. 

The courses cover topics such as:

  • Measurements and calculations
  • Safe handling of materials
  • Small plant and machinery operation
  • Excavation
  • Levelling
  • Traffic management and control
  • Earthworks
  • Communication
  • Locate and protect underground services.

There is currently a large State Government push for infrastructure projects so there is no better time to build on your skills. Major projects have been fast tracked to support jobs in the current environment with local businesses set to kick-start WA's economic recovery.

Two days of face to face delivery plus one day of online delivery proposed per week.

Delivery location, important dates and study options

This course may be offered with a blended, flexible delivery model to enable social distancing measures to be undertaken during the COVID-19 pandemic. This approach may include a mix of online and classroom based delivery, as well as practical and work experience placements. Lecturers will provide any specific instructions if your training delivery style needs to change.
