Do you speak another language at home (not English)?

The Certificate IV in EAL (English as an Additional Language)  - Further Study will prepare you for a wide range of study including Diploma and university (Murdoch University).

This course meets appropriate entry requirements into Murdoch University undergraduate degrees with minimum entry of IELTS Academic score of 6.0 with no band less than 6.0.

Attendance in class

This course is equivalent to 2-4 days per week across one semester.

At-home study

As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 7-9 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including private study, assignment preparation, and research.

You will need to have the basic technical requirements for at-home study. If you don’t have access to a computer and WiFi at home, we recommend using our library computers during library hours.

Work placement

Work placement is not a requirement for this course.

What you need for your first day of class

On your first day you should bring your SM TAFE confirmation enrolment receipt, your student ID, stationery (pen, exercise book, and file).

  • This qualification aims to improve your academic skills to undertake further training and education and enhance your employment opportunities.

  • Successful completion of the Certificate lV is accepted English language level for entry into vocational education courses.
