MEDII External course: practical assessment requirement
Upon MEDII External course completion, an AMSA Mandated Practical Assessment (AMPA) is essential for obtaining an AMSA Certificate of Competency. Enrollment eligibility requires prior completion of the MEDII course. NSCV Part D mandates a final AMPA assessment, evaluating operational skills, knowledge, and familiarity with Australian maritime legislation.

How On Campus
After completing the MEDII External course an AMSA Mandated Practical Assessment (AMPA) will need to be completed to gain a Certificate of Competency from AMSA. To qualify to enrol in this course you must have completed the MEDII course.
The National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV) Part D—Crew Competencies requires that a seafarer pass a final AMPA assessment prior to the issue of a certificate of competency. The AMPA is a practical assessment of of the appropriate operational skills and knowledge, and knowledge of Australian maritime legislation.
