Acquire the specific accounting techniques that will become the tools of your trade. If you enjoy accounting and mathematics, have an analytical mind and would like to work in the accounting profession, then our Advanced Diploma of Accounting is for you. Accountants support their clients with regular monitoring, analysis, preparation of documents, reports and accounts, and advice.

When you complete the Certificate III in Accounts Administration you'll have skills that employers are looking for, making you ideal for roles in accounts payable and receivable, as a cashier, payroll officer or accounts clerk.

You will gain skills and knowledge in financial transactions, accounts and ledgers, workplace health and safety, financial reports, and payroll. You will have experience in using computerized accounting software including MYOB and XERO.

With industry and government forecasting a modest growth for accounts clerks in coming years, you'll be ready for recruiting.

Full-time attendance is equivalent to three days a week.

This course runs for one semester which means you'll be job ready in no time. You may also want to consider further study to obtain the the Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping.

You will gain the skills and knowledge required to prepare for and provide medication assistance, and complete medication documentation.  You must be working in the health or community services industry with authority in your state or territory to assist with the administration of medication. 

This skill set has been endorsed by industry as suitable for people who hold a qualification at Certificate III level or higher in an area involving provision of direct client care or support.

Covering topics including basic anatomy and physiology, physical assistance skills and techniques and incident reporting and standard documentation, you will need to complete two units of competency, detailed below.

You will learn the practical skills and knowledge to plan, develop, implement and monitor programs and services for older people. This course will teach you the skills to assess the needs of older people with complex circumstances and plan and conduct group and recreation programs for older people. You will also learn how to monitor services, implement and monitor health and safety policies and procedures and organise an effective work environment. You you will undertake a supervised work placement where you will be able to apply the skills and knowledge you have learned.

This qualification builds on the skills and knowledge you would have gained in Certificate III in Individual Support or Certificate III in Aged Care.

The units of study are more demanding and provide a deeper understanding of the issues concerning aged clients and service provision for this target group. Graduates will be able to enter the workforce as direct service providers in an agency that provides services to aged persons.

Note:

  • Graduates aged 20 years and over are generally preferred for employment in this industry, and most employers will not employ minors. Therefore students under the age of 18 might not be able to meet the workplace assessment requirements of this qualification.
  • This Qualification is available via full-time study or flexible delivery. 
  • The flexible delivery is only currently available to students who are working in the industry and includes a support class once per week for two hours. Overall the course will require you to be in your workplace for at least 18 hours per week in addition to the time in class and the time you spend at home or the library completing assignments.  
  • This Qualification is delivered over one semester at Rockingham, but over two semesters at Mandurah.

The Gas Legislation and Safety course comprises three modules (Gas Standards Legislation, Gas Safety and  Basic Combustion, Fluing and Exhaust Principles), and two parts - Learning and Test

Learning is available online or on a face to face basis (whichever is most suitable for the individuals’ needs) and this ends with the test that is mandated by Energy Safety, the State regulator.

Learning
The online course is available to anyone who enrols and is self-paced, auto-marked and successful completion produces a letter for the student to bring to us, which enables them to take the test. The face to face course is available to anyone who enrols and is run from Rockingham campus on any Tuesday during teaching weeks only. Successful completion of the course enables the student to take the test.

Test 
The test can only be conducted on a face to face basis (Not available online) and is available from Rockingham campus on any Wednesday during teaching weeks only. Successful completion of the test enables students to apply for their restricted Class G permit through Energy Safety.

  • This is a 'flexible delivery' course, with one support class once per week for three hours.
  • This course is recommended for students with Certificate III in Individual Support.
  • Full-time students who are not in suitable employment will need to complete an equivalent work placement.
  • As a student you will also have additional costs associated with your study eg: you will need to obtain a National Police Clearance, and you will need to pay for stationery, printing and other materials required for your assignments.

This course is designed for people who are already working in an allied trade and have pre-existing skills. All students must already hold a Gas Fitting Permit to Work Under Supervision from Energy Safety WA (SMTAFE can arrange this) Students will need to record 250 hours of Gas Fitting with a Licensed Gas Fitter in WA as per Energy Safety requirements before they will be issued a permit to work unsupervised. These hours can be accumulated as soon as an individual has a Gas Fitting Permit to Work Under Supervision and are not required for the completion of the Certificate III.

People completing the course will have the skillset needed to work competently as a G class permit holder on all NG and LPG gas installations in WA and can apply to Energy Safety WA for a G class permit to work unsupervised as soon as they have recorded 250 hours.

Upon successful completion of this course, the participant will be able to obtain a restricted licence from the Plumbing Licensing Board.

A Restricted Plumbing Licence qualifies the holder to remove and replace water heaters and disconnecting, removing, installing and reconnecting compression unions, temperature/pressure relief valves and expansion control valves.

Scope of work authorised under a restricted plumbing permit:

There are two criteria for determining the type of plumbing work permitted to be carried out by the holder of a restricted plumbing permit.

Criteria 1

The plumbing work to be carried out must only be in the course of:

a. removing a water heater; or
b. removing and reinstalling a water heater; or
c. replacing a water heater.

Criteria 2

The work to be carried out is limited to disconnecting, removing, installing and reconnecting:

a. a compression union;
b. a temperature/pressure relief valve; or
c. an expansion control valve.

This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to meet AS/NZS 3760 the Australian standard on testing and tagging for Test and Tag.

The course delivers the required knowledge and skills necessary to:

  • Work safely using a portable appliance tester 
  • identify faults 
  • arrange for repair of faulty equipment
  • apply tagging and
  • complete test documentation.

On completion of this course you will have the skills and knowledge to test and tag RCD's in accordance with AS/NZS 3760:2010.

Work Health and Safety Regulations state all businesses must have a RCD protecting all hostile circuits that must be tested to ensure it will respond in a timely manner during fault situations.
