AUR20216 Certificate II In Automotive Air Conditioning Technology

South Metropolitan TAFE offer all third and fourth year apprentice students who have or are close to completing the AUR30616 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Technology or AUR30316 Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology, the opportunity to gain the AUR20216 Certificate II in Automotive Air-Conditioning Technology.

The AUR20216 Certificate II in Automotive Air-Conditioning Technology is required to obtain a Refrigerant Handling License. Appling for a licence is done through the Australian Refrigeration Council’s website www.arctick.org

The course comprises of 3 face to face delivered units:

  • AURETU3004 (WF128) Diagnose and repair air conditioning and HVAC systems
  • AURETU2003 (WF127) Service air conditioning and HVAC systems
  • AURETU3005 (WF129) Retrofit and modify air conditioning and HVAC systems

An RPL/credit/exemption process will be required for the remaining units within the qualification. You will be required to provide evidence to gain competency for this component.

  • Trade Certificate (Automotive)
  • Current Automotive apprentice (at least third year)

You must obtain a Classroom (CL000) OR Trainee (TL000) Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Trainee Licence through the Australian Refrigeration Council before you can attend workshop training at South Metropolitan TAFE. Please allow up to seven days to obtain this. More information can be found at www.arctick.org

Two types of trainee licence are available:

1) TRAINEE (TL000 REFRIGERATION AND AIR-CONDITIONING TRAINEE LICENCE)

For supervised handling of refrigerant in workplace and classroom (preferred). The supervisor must be the holder of a licence that entitles them to engage in work for which the licensee is being trained.

2) TRAINEE CLASSROOM (CL000 REFRIGERATION AND AIR-CONDITIONING TRAINEE LICENCE - CLASSROOM)

For handling of refrigeration in classroom only. Requiring a signed Trainers Declaration - received after enrolment and payment.

To handle refrigerant in a classroom setting only. The licensee cannot handle refrigerant outside the classroom setting.

Applying for a licence is done through the Australian Refrigeration Council
