Careers in oil and gas

Western Australia is an international resources hub. The state currently has major petroleum and minerals projects underway and more than 900 companies service the sector from Perth. As the industry moves from construction to operations phase, there continue to be exciting job prospects throughout the industry, and companies are constantly on the lookout for skilled, hard working, motivated operators to join them.

South Metropolitan TAFE offers a range of qualifications, from entry to manager level, in engineering and process plant operations. Courses are taught from our Munster Campus at the Australian Centre for Energy and Process Training (ACEPT).  We offer world-class, specialist training facilities, enabling students hands-on experience in a real-life industry setting.

Scholarships for school leavers

Full scholarships are currently available to school leavers interested in a career in the oil and gas, mining or engineering sectors.  The scholarships cover all expenses for one semester, including tuition fees and personal protective equipment.

Successful applicants will be enrolled in MSM30116 Certificate III in Process Manufacturing at our Munster Campus.  This course provides students with a taste of working in the engineering and process plant operations fields.  The course is also a pathway to a tertiary qualification in the engineering field.

These scholarships are being offered in partnership with the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association (APPEA).
